Gift cards are the highest-margin product in any retail shop — and they bring a new customer through the door at the point of redemption. Gift Cards & Store Credit lets you sell pre-paid value cards in any AUD denomination, either as a printed/plastic card or as a digital code sent by SMS or email at point of sale. Redemption at the POS works like any other tender — the customer presents the card or code, the operator scans/types it, and the available balance applies as part of the payment. Partial redemptions track the remaining balance automatically; the customer can use the card across multiple visits until it's spent (or expires). The same primitive doubles as store credit for refunds. When you process a return on a customer-attached order (iter 18 unlocked customer linking), the refund can flow back as store credit on a card uniquely issued to that customer — keeps revenue in the shop and gives the customer a reason to return. AU-specific: gift-card expiry is regulated under the Australian Consumer Law (minimum 3 years for cards sold after 1 November 2019). The platform enforces the 3-year floor and reminds you at issue time if you try to set a shorter expiry. Outstanding gift card balance is a liability on your books — the dashboard shows it under Inventory Value so you account for it accurately. Integrates with iter 15's COGS so margin reports treat gift-card sales as 0%-margin (they're future revenue, not current).
