Where Mindbody is still the better choice
Honesty matters when you’re evaluating a switch. OneBookPlus replaces Mindbody for the great majority of Australian boutique gyms, yoga studios, reformer pilates studios and personal trainers. But there are three situations where Mindbody is still the safer call today.
1. Franchise corporate flows
If you operate a franchise location of Anytime Fitness, F45 Training, Snap Fitness, Plus Fitness, or another global chain with corporate Mindbody integration mandates, switching is constrained by your franchise agreement. The corporate data pipe, member transfers between locations, and brand-mandated reporting may require Mindbody at the franchise level. Independent boutique operators have full freedom to switch; franchisees should check their franchise agreement before committing.
2. Native iOS / Android branded apps
Mindbody offers fully native iOS and Android apps with your studio’s branding in the App Store and Play Store. OneBookPlus delivers the booking experience through a fully responsive web portal that members save to their home screen (PWA), which works for the great majority of use cases but doesn’t put your studio’s name in the app stores. Native branded apps are on the OneBookPlus roadmap; if app-store presence is non-negotiable for your brand positioning, Mindbody currently wins this point.
3. Apple Watch / Fitbit / Lift integration
Mindbody has direct wearables integrations that surface class bookings and reminders on Apple Watch, Fitbit and similar devices. OneBookPlus delivers reminders through email and (with the SMS app) text, which covers most members, but doesn’t natively push to wearables today. For high-touch luxury studios where wearables integration is part of the member experience, this is a real gap to weigh.
In short: for an independent Australian boutique gym, yoga studio, reformer pilates studio or personal trainer who values AUD billing, GST/BAS native handling, MA000094-aware rostering, retention analytics that actually move margin, and no lock-in contracts — OneBookPlus is the clean choice. For franchise corporate flows or non-negotiable native-app brand positioning, Mindbody remains the safer call.
